How to start a company without leaving your job

If you are reading this post, it is very likely that you are the kind of people who do not want to spend their entire live in a 9 to 5 job; you are of those who are looking for something more.

I am pretty sure that you have once considered leaving your job and simply start you own company, but you have not done it for fear of uncertainty. I have some tips that will help you achieve that goal you love so much without losing your financial stability.

Organize and optimize your time

Let’s be honest, no one can keep his job and start his own company starting the day at 10 a.m. and ending at noon. We would all like it, but at least at the beginning it is something that you can not afford.

If you really want to do something on your own, you should be aware that you should spend at least a few extra hours a day.

If you have a job with a fixed schedule, you could do these extra hours early before going to work or in the afternoon once you have finished your daily tasks. It could even be a hobby for you, since it is something you really want.

But if your work has a flexible schedule, look for the best time slots so that you can work at ease on your own idea.

And always remember: starting a business does not mean giving up everything suddenly.

Learn from others and develop your skills

Surely in your job from 9 to 5 you have a fixed position, you can do software development, marketing, design, etc. Each and every one of the skills you do in your day to day are invaluable, and will help you to bring your project to fruition. However, unless you pay for it, when you are on your own you must do each and every one of those by yourself.

I know how that sounds, there will be many things that you do not know and you will have to learn. A good tip at this point is that you approach your colleagues from your work and learn from them. Get involved in things that “do not correspond to you”.

We regularly tend to focus only on our role and not to learn what others do; but at this moment, my friend, you need to do the opposite.

Lean on someone

Creating a company is a fairly long and complex road. So I recommend looking for a partner who shares your dreams. Surely you will find a lot of material on the internet about how to find that ideal partner, so I will not elaborate on the subject.

Remember: if you can not find someone, you can do it alone. But I recommend you look for a partner.

Think your idea well and do not constantly change it

If you already have clear all the previous points (or you are working on them!), you have to define well the idea you want to develop. Services, products, it does not matter! The important thing is that you work on it and put all your effort.

Something crucial is that you should not abandon your ideas without any reason. I think many entrepreneurs fail not because a bad idea, but because they do not have enough persistence in it.

Let’s not fool ourselves, there will be times when the idea has no future. But to prove it, first you have to try and fail.
